From the Heart: Facing the Music

Read: 2 Cor. 5:1-10

v.10 – For we must all appear before the judgement seat of Christ, that each one may receive what is due him for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad.

Recently I read about a man in China who was accepted as a member of the Emperor’s orchestra. A friend had recommended him claiming that he was an accomplished flutist, though he couldn’t play a note. Things went well for a while. During concerts he would hold the flute to his lips at the appropriate times and go through the motions of playing. Then one day the Emperor announced that he wanted to hear each member of the orchestra in a solo performance. The frightened man immediately made arrangements to take lessons, but they did little to help him. He thought about claiming to be ill on the day of his scheduled appointment, but he feared he would be found out. So when the dreaded day for his recital arrived, rather than being discovered for the fraud that he was, he took a fatal dose of poison. He was afraid to face the music.

The day is coming when all people will be called before the Lord for our “recital.” Christians and non-Christians alike. No exceptions, For we must “all” appear before the judgement seat of Christ, to receive our just reward, whether good or bad.

Rev. 20:12 says, “And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and the books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the Book of Life. The dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books.”

When we are called upon to stand,

Before the Lord someday,

Will we anticipate His praise

Or dread what He will say?

Holy Father, All Wise God, Creator of Heaven and earth, I humbly come to You today, Thanking You for loving us and giving us a Savior, Jesus, your only begotten Son. Father, it breaks my heart to think that my sins caused Him to suffer such agony and pain, even death on the cross. But Father, it was your plan to redeem us from Satan for we all have sinned and fallen away from You. Thank You for Jesus and your great love that has given us Hope of Eternal Life in Heaven when this life is over.  “In Jesus Holy Name,” Amen!
