Thursday Thoughts: Take Courage!

We often think of courageous people as those who have performed great or heroic deeds. This is how the Cowardly Lion in The Wizard of Oz viewed courage. What he failed to realize though (as do we sometimes) was he had the qualities of being courageous within himself the whole time. Webster’s defines courage as, [...]
Thursday Thoughts: Learn From Me

When I consider the problems of life or a particular issue that is threatening the body of Christ I tend to attack that problem and feel like I must overcome this problem myself. I have learned that this generally causes me to labor and become heavy laden and I have little rest. It is not until I “learn from Jesus” to be gentle and lowly in heart and come to Jesus with my problems that I find rest and my approach to these problems takes a different direction.
Thursday Thoughts: As Little Children…

There is much in the character of a little child that may prove to be a valuable lesson to all who will consider the child’s actions. We have just finished our Vacation Bible School. I am always impressed at the children and how much they are able to learn about the Bible stories that they study during VBS. Not only by what they are able to learn but their enthusiasm, their desire to learn, their willingness to participate, their love for Jesus, their purity of heart and their humility.

God is the creator of life, He is the giver of salvation and Christ is the solution to sin. All we need is enough faith to respond to His invitation.

The reality of the resurrection of Jesus is what sets Christianity apart from every other religion. It is what defines the Christian faith and gives veracity to the scriptures themselves.

How do I know what is right? How can I be sure that what I am doing is what God would want me to do?

Paul tells the brethren to stand fast in their faith, to be united, supporting each other, rejoicing in the Lord, being kind to all men, trusting God with everything, filling their minds with things that were good and to follow Paul’s example. If they would do these things and if we would do these things we can stand fast in Christ.
Thursday Thoughts: What’s So Hard About Getting It Right?

We can easily start to think that because of our faith, willingness to say how much we love the Lord, and how we only want to serve him that we cannot mess up. Somehow, we could never be wrong in our understanding and teaching. Simply because we are Christians, we’ve got the right answer. We should all challenge ourselves to think again.

In the parable found in Matt. 25:1-13, there were 10 virgins. Five were said to be wise and five were said to be foolish. All of these virgins represent the Lord’s disciples. Some would be prepared and some would be unprepared for the bridegroom when He came. In Matt. 7:24-27 Jesus tells us who will be wise and who will be foolish. He who hears the word and does it will be wise and he who hears the word and does not do it will be foolish. When it comes our time for others to attend our funeral will we have been wise or foolish?
Thursday Thoughts: Take Pride in Jesus

Once, I was speaking with a friend about how do you teach Jesus? What book do you go to? What verses do you focus on? How do you get someone that doesn’t know Jesus to see Jesus? Until recently, he had not studied with people because he “didn’t know how to bring IT up”. The “IT” was the Bible.
