From the Heart: Love Test

From the Heart: Love Test

It’s easy to talk sentimentally about love as an intangible thing, but it’s much more difficult to put into practice, especially in trying situations of real life. Jesus made this clear in His Sermon on the Mount, by setting before us a way to test our love.

From the Heart: Facing the Music

From the Heart: Facing the Music

The day is coming when all people will be called before the Lord for our “recital.” Christians and non-Christians alike. No exceptions, For we must “all” appear before the judgement seat of Christ, to receive our just reward, whether good or bad.

From the Heart: No Relief is Found

Psalm 88, written by a godly man named Heman, stands alone in the psalter of its unrelenting sorrow and gloom. Unlike David, whose despair usually gave way to hope, Heman’s psalm ends with the word “darkness.” But how can such a woeful psalm encourage us?

From the Heart: I’ll See You Over There

Paul declares that we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together “With Them,” to meet the Lord in the air, and so shall we ever be with the Lord. What a joyous coming together of all God’s children!

From the Heart: Behind Closed Doors

Imagine the conflicting emotions the disciples must have had on resurrection day before Jesus appeared to them. Their Lord, their leader, their expected king was presumed dead. So when they met, it was in secret, behind locked doors.Yet a stirring of hope had begun in their hearts, for they had heard that the tomb was empty.

From the Heart: God’s Gift of Friendship

There are many pressures that people face in the work place and in life in general. It’s easy to see these days how loneliness can lead to despair. God never intended us to bear these burdens alone. However, it’s hard to realize this when we are in the midst of temptations and trials.

From the Heart: My Hot Rod God

How sad the Lord must feel when we ask Him to step aside from the center of our hearts to make room for a house, a car, a computer or a career or anything else that takes control of our lives. May God give us the strength to overcome!

From the Heart: Missed Opportunities

From the Heart: Missed Opportunities

An opportunist is described as a person who takes advantage of any opportunity to achieve an end. Usually with little or no regard for moral principles. However, a Christian should never fall into that category. They should always be true, honest and loyal to the cause of Christ.

From the Heart: Let Us Adore Him

I am truly grateful to all of you who take the time to read my devotionals. My prayer is that they will in some way bring you a little closer to our God and one day soon we can all meet around that Great White Thrown of God, there in the presence of our Awesome God, enjoying that beautiful Heavenly Home that Jesus has gone to prepare for us.

From the Heart: Something Worth Dying For

From the Heart: Something Worth Dying For

If we believe most of the news we see and read it would seem that a self-sacrificial attitude is all but lost in today’s society. That we are all out for number one, and nothing here or across the sea is worth dying for. In today’s scripture reading, the three friends of Daniel were willing to be cast in a fiery furnace rather than bow down to pagan gods. To them, the truth was worth dying for!

From the Heart: Giving Thanks

From the Heart: Giving Thanks

Be aware of creation. The sun reminds us of God’s warmth and love. The vastness of space speaks to His infiniteness. The sunrise and sunset reveal the beauty and splendor of His Divine nature. Truly, this should keep us praising the One who not only gives us physical life but who also provides eternal life through faith in Jesus Christ.
