From the Heart: He Took My Place

From the Heart: He Took My Place

Christ died physically for Barabbas. He died spiritually for everyone else. The Bible says that when we trust and obey we can walk out of the prison-house of death and step into the bright sunlight of forgiveness and freedom. What an amazing truth!

From the Heart: Joy Over Sorrow

From the Heart: Joy Over Sorrow

The homecoming of His saints is precious to the Lord and we should not be selfish, wanting to keep them from His presence. Let’s rejoice that our Savior has taken them safely to glory and that He will return to reunite us with them on that glorious day when the trumpet sounds.

From the Heart: Trust God’s Word

From the Heart: Trust God’s Word

Are you worried about what might happen in the future? If so it’s time to give it over to our almighty God. “Trust in Him!” His Word is true and faithful. Read it, Remember it, and Trust it.

From the Heart: Marriage

From the Heart: Marriage

A good marriage requires much love and giving by both parties. All too often when the rosy glow of romance has faded to a deeper purple of reality, some of the sweetness that accompanies courtship is lost in the bitter experiences of life. The faults of each mate are magnified and become as obvious as their virtues.

From the Heart: Run With Endurance

From the Heart: Run With Endurance

At one point I was so tired I could hardly keep up. But I was afraid to slow down thinking they might lose me in the dark. Our two hour fishing trip turned into four and a half hours and when I finally saw the head lights on the truck and mom standing there waiting I had never been so glad of anything in my life.

From the Heart: An Empty Egg

When the women went to anoint the body of Jesus they knew he was dead. Some of them had seen him die. They were sure his body was in the tomb. But when they looked for it, it was gone. The tomb was empty! What had happened? The body had not been stolen. The Roman guards were not playing tricks on them. They were not imagining it. “The tomb was empty because Jesus had risen from the dead.”

From the Heart: Remembering

From the Heart: Remembering

Like married couples remembering back, we can recall God’s work, his great victories and his promises and proofs of his great love toward his people. Forgetting, on the other hand, almost amounts to treason. If one person forgets the all-important anniversary, tears and anger may follow.

From the Heart: Looking Above the Tumult

From the Heart: Looking Above the Tumult

There is little doubt that today’s world is in revolt against God. The powers of evil seem greater and louder than the forces for righteousness. But we need not be depressed by these frightening facts. God is on His throne.

From the Heart: Looking Beyond The Unknown

Life is full of uncertainties. We don’t know what the next 24 hours will bring. It’s an uncharted course that may include blessings of great joy or heartbreaking loss. Because the future is unknown, it sometimes fills us with fear, making each new day a struggle. It sometimes keeps us from doing things that we know God wants us to do.

From the Heart: Sin Hurts God

From the Heart: Sin Hurts God

Satan knows us. He knows our strengths and our weaknesses. And he knows what and when to tempt us. God understands that and that’s why he sent His Son to redeem our souls from Satan.

From the Heart: Take Courage, It Is I

From the Heart: Take Courage, It Is I

The terror stricken disciples saw Jesus coming toward them walking on the water and they didn’t quite know what was really happening. Was it a ghost or something even more terrifying? Can you imagine the relief they felt when Jesus said, “Be of good cheer! It is I; do not be afraid.”
