From the Heart: Freeway Freedom

The highway of life can get clogged and over-crowded with the things of this life. We sometimes get frustrated because the trials and difficulties hold us back and our progress slows down to a snail’s pace. We don’t seem to be accomplishing what we think we should as fast as we should.

All together we have nine grandchildren and our little great one. For some reason all of them have decided to call us Nana and Papa. Now I still have a busy work life but I can confess that I’m not too busy to hear from my children or my children’s children. And when I hear them say “Papa, I love you”, well, my heart kinda melts.

Sometimes young people come to realize with deep regret that if they had followed the counsel of their parents they could have avoided much heartache, both for themselves and their family.

From the Heart: Another Comforter

Jesus said that the Father would send the Comforter to abide with us always. In Acts 2:1-4, we see the fulfillment of this promise. And ever since that historic day, the Holy Spirit has been faithfully carrying on His work in the lives of Christians everywhere.

Our founding fathers came and fought for the right of religious freedom. And they not only brought their families and their possessions but they also brought their Bibles. The Law of God was their law of the land. Look at our nation today. Oh, how far we have strayed!

From the Heart: Don’t Take God For Granted

The older I get, the more I marvel that I am still alive. As a youngster growing up I never thought much about dying. Yes, I took life for granted. I trust God and I know he has his reasons for keeping me here even though it probably would have easier sometimes to just let me go. I believe our God has a purpose for each of us and I pray that he will guide me to that purpose and help me to accomplish it, whatever it might be.

My friends we need to pray for our nation. Let our hearts burn with anguish for our people. May we never forget our forefathers who came to this country seeking freedom from oppression; a freedom that would allow them to worship their Jehovah God. When they came they brought everything they had, including their bibles. It became their law of the land and their guiding light for the future.

Regardless of age our limitations, we can still enjoy our walk with the Lord. Let us pray and cast a good example on those who know us, while we wait on the Lord.

From the Heart: Good Grief

As a child of God, we can keep our grieving under control by telling the Lord how we feel, and asking for His help. Then just like Abraham, we begin focusing on the needs of the living, and picking up our responsibilities.

From the Heart: Courage with Fear and Trembling

When we look into the book of beginnings, “Genesis”, it doesn’t say that God made a red man or a black man or a yellow man or a white man. But it does say in Genesis1:26, that God made “man” in His own image, according to His likeness.

From the Heart: The Great Reward

Most of today’s society operates on the principle of selfishness. Looking out for number one. The person who lets others go first is considered weak. Christians, however, must reject this philosophy. Now don’t misunderstand me here. I’m not saying we should neglect our own needs. The Apostle Paul said, in verse (4) Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interest of others.
