From the Heart: Are You Packed & Ready?

From the Heart: Are You Packed & Ready?

I heard a story some time ago about a young mother who was trying to explain to her five year old daughter about her daddy’s death. and she said, honey, the Lord called for daddy and some day he will call for you and me. The little girl looked at her mother with big sad eyes and she said, “When Mommy?” When is the Lord going to call for you and me? Her mother said, “I don’t know honey, nobody knows when.”

From the Heart: Lessons From Noah

From the Heart: Lessons From Noah

Can you imagine what it must have been like to be Noah? He lived in a culture that was corrupted by immorality and violence. According to the scriptures, the earth was literally full of it. People’s lives had become so reprehensible that God regretted having created them. So much so that he decided to remove every living thing from the face of the earth.

From the Heart: I’m Sorry

From the Heart: I’m Sorry

Sometimes its really hard to say “I’m sorry.” Even though you feel you were right in a matter you can still feel genuine sorrow for the harm that your words or actions may have caused others.

From the Heart: Attitudes and Actions

In our scripture reading we can see the love and compassion that Jesus had for this woman who was caught in sin. He didn’t condone her sin but He loved her soul. He said, “Go and sin no more.”

The preacher said, where did you get those birds? The boy said, I trapped them in the field. What are you going to do with them, the preacher ask? Oh, I’m going to play with them for a while and then I’ll feed them to my cat at home. They are just field birds and they can’t sing very well.

From the Heart: Love Test

From the Heart: Love Test

It’s easy to talk sentimentally about love as an intangible thing, but it’s much more difficult to put into practice, especially in trying situations of real life. Jesus made this clear in His Sermon on the Mount, by setting before us a way to test our love.

From the Heart: Facing the Music

From the Heart: Facing the Music

The day is coming when all people will be called before the Lord for our “recital.” Christians and non-Christians alike. No exceptions, For we must “all” appear before the judgement seat of Christ, to receive our just reward, whether good or bad.

From the Heart: No Relief is Found

From the Heart: No Relief is Found

Psalm 88, written by a godly man named Heman, stands alone in the psalter of its unrelenting sorrow and gloom. Unlike David, whose despair usually gave way to hope, Heman’s psalm ends with the word “darkness.” But how can such a woeful psalm encourage us?

From the Heart: My Hot Rod God

From the Heart: My Hot Rod God

How sad the Lord must feel when we ask Him to step aside from the center of our hearts to make room for a house, a car, a computer or a career or anything else that takes control of our lives. May God give us the strength to overcome!

From the Heart: Missed Opportunities

From the Heart: Missed Opportunities

An opportunist is described as a person who takes advantage of any opportunity to achieve an end. Usually with little or no regard for moral principles. However, a Christian should never fall into that category. They should always be true, honest and loyal to the cause of Christ.

From the Heart: Let Us Adore Him

From the Heart: Let Us Adore Him

I am truly grateful to all of you who take the time to read my devotionals. My prayer is that they will in some way bring you a little closer to our God and one day soon we can all meet around that Great White Thrown of God, there in the presence of our Awesome God, enjoying that beautiful Heavenly Home that Jesus has gone to prepare for us.
