From the Heart: Let Us Adore Him

Read Psalm 19

My friends, we serve an Awesome God. And there are no words that we could possibly say or even think that could adequately describe Him. But I want to share with you some words written by others who were inspired by the Holy Spirit. This is a special time of year when many are remembering the birth of Jesus, the only begotten Son of God. Surely it’s no accident that the first words in our Bible say, “In the Beginning God”. You see, God has always been and will always be God, The Great I Am.

Moses, the writer of the Book of Genesis, goes on to describe in great detail how God created this world. He made it perfect in every way. And verse 31 of chapter 1 it says, “God saw all that he had made, and it was very good.”

I love what David wrote about Him in Psalm 19. There is no wonder that he was called “A Man after God’s Own Heart.” He wrote with such heart and passion you can almost feel the words coming off the page.

I am truly grateful to all of you who take the time to read my devotionals. My prayer is that they will in some way bring you a little closer to our God and one day soon we can all meet around that Great White Thrown of God, there in the presence of our Awesome God, enjoying that beautiful Heavenly Home that Jesus has gone to prepare for us.

The beloved Apostle John wrote in Revelations chapter 21, saying,

Now I saw a New Heaven and a new earth, because the first Heaven and the first earth had passed away. Then I, John, saw the Holy City, New Jerusalem, coming down out of Heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from Heaven saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people, and God Himself will be with them and be their God. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.” Then He who sat on the throne said, “Behold, I make all things new.” And He said, “Write for these words are true and faithful.”

And down in verse 10 John writes, that he was carried away in the spirit, to a great and high mountain, and He showed him this great city. In the next few verses he describes how beautiful it was. He said the walls were of jasper, and the city was pure gold, like clear glass. Verse 23 says there was no need for the sun or the moon to shine in it, because the Glory of God was there and the Lamb was its light.

Now, my friends, How Great Is That?

There is a lot more that could be said, but I’ll close by telling you about one of my favorite songs. Regardless of where I am when I hear it, I’ve got to stop and listen.

The song pictures a person who is consumed by the Glory of God, and His Image of what he thinks his first day in Heaven might be like. It starts by saying, “I Can Only Imagine.”

What that day will be like, when I walk by your side.

I can only imagine what my eyes will see, when your face is before me.

Surrounded by Your Glory, what will my heart feel?

Will I dance for You Jesus, or in awe of You be still,

Will I stand in your presence? Or will I fall to my knees?

Will I sing Hallelujah? Will I be able to speak at all?

My friends, as I sit here today, I can only imagine what heaven will be like. But I’m thankful that God’s Holy Word gives us a glance, a peek, into that Holy City. Oh, it’s going to be such a beautiful place. But the most important part of all is that Jesus, the Lamb of God will be there. And I hope and pray that I will be able to spend time with Him so I can tell Him face to face, how grateful I am, that He loved me enough to take away my sins.

At times I feel the anguish of the apostle Paul, when he said, I am the chiefest of sinners. Because the things I know to do, “I do not.” And the things I know not to do, “I do.”

It’s only by the Grace of God, that my name is written in the “Lamb’s Book of Life.” AMEN!

All Wise, All Powerful and All Loving Heavenly Father, I humbly come to You today in prayer, so grateful for your great blessings; the blessing of this life and most of all for your promise of even a better life to come. May all Glory and Honor be unto You, your Son and the Great Holy Spirit, now and forever. In Jesus Holy Name, Amen!
